An inspirational trip to Bath hotels for L6th Form BTEC Hospitality pupils...
L6th Form BTEC Hospitality pupils were fortunate to visit three luxury boutique hotels owned by the Kaleidescope group; Homewood at Freshford, The Bird, Bath and newly acquired Dukes.
The day began with coffee and pastries, whilst listening to a fantastic overview of Homewood, with talks from their staff about operations, customer service and their own individual routes into Hospitality. Homewood is a beautifully curated Spa Hotel is set in the countryside with unique selling points such as 'glass dome dining' and 'no dig' garden. The interiors are unique and quirky with works of art and an eclectic mix of antique furniture collected globally by the owners. It has recently been accredited with a Michelin Key classification, a prestigious accolade linked to quality of service. Staff gave a tour of the hotel, pointing out ways in which they are diversifying in alignment with current trends.
We then headed into Bath to visit the city hotels which had a totally different vibe. The Bird is like the naughty little sister of Homewood, and newly acquired Dukes, is an elegant grown up affair. Pupils were treated to a brilliant talk from the Marketing team, who discussed social media trends and different roles within PR and Marketing. It was interesting to hear how the business approaches marketing campaigns and what skills are needed to stay current and exciting. Once again a unique tour and talk about the flexibility of using their outside space.
All pupils were exposed to a much broader view of Hospitality and all the possibilities for future careers and apprenticeships within the group. The day was truly inspirational and pupils gained such valuable information and were made to feel really welcome by all staff.
