Exciting careers talks for the 4th Form...
This week the 4th Form had 4 different careers talks from different career sections. On Tuesday, it was great to welcome Film and TV Director, Joe Ramsden to King's to speak about how his education choices have impacted his career, and to impart his advice to any budding creatives. He highlighted the impact work experience can have on your cv, making contacts, and most importantly choosing to do what you enjoy and love doing.
On Wednesday, Marcus Milne Home spoke to the 4th Form pupils who are interested in a career in the Army and in Finance. He is currently a mortgage advisor, but before that served for 8 years in the Army. He also gave the pupils the tip that it is ok not to know what you are doing and can change your career many times in your life.
On Thursday, Alice Workman spoke to the 4th Form on life in the Art world. As a former employer of Hauser & Wirth and now owning her own gallery in Bruton, Alice has had many years’ experience as a curator. She told the pupils how important it is to have a career that they are passionate about and not to think about the money.
We finished the week with an enlightening talk on Law and the different steps you can take to reach your goal. We welcomed Georgina Griggs, whose main focus is Corporate Immigration, to King's and she highlighted the importance of hard work, networking, and being open to change. Whilst she admitted she knew at 14 the career path she wanted, it was also clear that there are many areas of law, and exploring all options before settling down on is a valuable experience.
