Monday 12^th November saw 72 pupils from the 5^th Form and 6^th Form taking part in the annual Engineering Challenge Day here at King’s. 

To mark the 500^th Celebrations here at King’s, we looked back at engineering from history with the teams being tasked to design and build model trebuchets to stage an attack on a castle compound. Teams were scored on product design, how well they met the product specification and quality of manufacturing, as well as being awarded points for accuracy of flight. Bonus marks were awarded if the team managed to hit “King Donald” or “Queen Nigella” from the castle ramparts!

All groups produced excellent designs, and the top two teams were separated by a mere two points by the end of the competition, with the win being secured as the ball knocked Queen Nigella from the ramparts leaving the ball on the top of the wall! Huge congratulations to all involved, especially the winning team, which was made up of Fionn, Oliver, Rory, Christopher, Hector and Katie. An album of photos from the afternoon can be seen below.
