5th Form Design & Technology pupils enjoyed a trip to the Morgan Car Factory...
The Design & Technology GCSE pupils had a fantastic trip to the Morgan Motor Company in Great Malvern, Worcestershire. They delved into the history of Morgan and discovered what makes these cars so iconic. The highlight was witnessing the manufacturing process up close, including the assembly of some of the limited edition of 50 Morgan Midsummers in the workshop.
Morgan’s distinctive hand-built cars combine traditional craftsmanship with modern techniques. Pupils observed a range of manufacturing processes, from woodworking and metalworking to upholstery, performed by a highly skilled workforce. Morgan apprenticeships span five years, emphasizing the dedication required to master the techniques used in the factory. The tour provided a unique opportunity to see the transition of raw materials like timber and aluminium into beautifully finished vehicles. The bespoke nature of Morgan cars was also apparent, with evidence of customization tailored to buyers who seek this brand throughout the world.
The visit concluded with the Museum, showcasing Morgan’s rich history, and time spent in the showroom and shop, admiring historic and contemporary models. It was an inspiring and educational day for everyone involved.
