On Wednesday the Chapel Choir travelled to Chichester Cathedral to sing a service of Choral Evensong.

The choir were in fine form and enjoyed singing in a generous acoustic. The music for the service included: Responses: Nardone, Psalms: 47,48 & 49, Canticles: The Chichester Service (Vann), Anthem: How lovely are thy dwellings (Brahms). It was the first time the choir had three psalms to sing in the same evening amounting to 43 verses and three different chants! The choir performed them brilliantly with a real sense of line and careful attention to diction. The anthem was superb, sung with poise and sensitivity to Brahms detailed dynamic markings. At the end of the service the Precentor commented on how impressed he was with the choir and in particular the psalm singing, he also said that we would be most welcome for a return visit in the future. It was good to have a number of parents coming along to support along with a previous Headmaster of King’s, Mr Doggart (1972-1985), current members of School Governing Body and an Old Brutonian too.
