Exciting improvements to traffic calming through King’s Bruton.
Quite uniquely, King’s is one of those rare ancient schools that has an A road which runs through the main school.
These grey photos, taken on a damp February morning, disguise the fact there have been important improvements made for pupil safety.
Pupils will return to a new tarmac path and with pedestrians on both sides of the road, it is hoped the traffic is deterred from speeding. An island has also been constructed in Godminster Lane which breaks up the large expanse of road. This road is regularly crossed by girls heading back to Wellesley House. We also have a new sleeping policeman outside New House, where cars have to mount this ridge of tarmac.
