5th Form Geography pupils explored the Temple Quarter regeneration project in Bristol...
On Tuesday, 5th Form Geography pupils left King’s and headed to Bristol city centre. The purpose of the trip was twofold; to allow pupils to see for themselves the large-scale regeneration project that is taking place in the Temple Quarter in Bristol, and also to conduct a human-based geographical investigation, which will be assessed in Paper 3 of the GCSE exams this summer.
In the morning, we explored the Temple Quarter regeneration project and documented the changes that have taken place in the last 5-10 years and the improvements that are currently being made to the buildings, public transport and overall quality of the area. This is a case study for GCSE paper 2 and it was great to see the Enterprise Zone and regeneration happening for ourselves. In the afternoon we headed to Cabot Circus where pupils carried out a pedestrian count at specific locations, as well as asking members of the public a series of questions to find out how far they had travelled to get to Bristol and why they were visiting the city. We will analyse the data back in the classroom, to determine the importance of Bristol as a city in the south west of the UK. Overall, a really successful and useful trip ahead of the GCSE examinations in the summer.
