The Chapel Choir sang Choral Evensong at Wells Cathedral...
On Friday 24th February, the Chapel Choir sang a service of Choral Evensong at Wells Cathedral. The Chapel Choir were warmly welcomed by the Cathedral staff. The music for the service included Responses by Joanna Forbes L’Estrange, Psalm 119 (v.1-19) set to a chant by E. J. Hopkins. The canticles were sung to Heathcote Statham’s setting in E minor. The anthem was Charles Wood’s beautiful anthem Expectans Expactavi.
Wells Cathedral is such a wonderful place to sing, and the Chapel Choir really enjoyed making the building ring and hearing the organ accompaniment. My congratulations go to all those involved on a hugely successful visit. Particular mention goes to Hugo (U6th Form Lyon House) who acted as Cantor within the service. It was wonderful to have a large congregation with many parents and other supporters who were extremely complimentary about the singing of the Chapel Choir.
The next visit for the Chapel Choir will be a return visit to sing Choral Evensong at Wells Cathedral on Bank Holiday Monday 8th May at 5.15pm with music to honour the Coronation of the King and Queen Consort - all are very welcome to attend.
