Our international pupils held a cake sale for charity...
On Wednesday 23rd November, the international pupils organized a cake sale during breaktime to raise money for the charity which King’s has chosen to support this year, The Growing Space. This is a locally based charity which supports people who suffer from poor mental health, by organizing horticultural activities for all ages.
Martha, helped by Alexina and Harriet, took over the Food Science kitchens on Tuesday afternoon (many thanks to Mrs Portch) and baked some delicious traditional Franzbrötchen - a recipe from Hamburg, full of butter and cinnamon. These sold out straight away, and other cakes were on offer: Panettone and Pandoro from Italy, Stollen from Germany, and some good old mince pies, so something for everybody. Pupils and staff alike had a delicious festive snack for break, our international pupils were dab hands at slicing, selling and cashing in and, at the end of the day, some £75.00 was raised for the charity.
