On Friday 6th May, the Chapel Choir travelled to Wells Cathedral to sing a service of Choral Evensong...
The Chapel Choir last performed at Wells in the Summer Term 2018, and it was lovely to make a return visit. The Chapel Choir were once again warmly welcomed by the Cathedral staff. The music for the service included Responses by Byrd, Psalm 32 set to a chant by Hopkins. The canticles were sung to Howells setting ‘Collegium Regale’ as requested by the U6th Form in the Chapel Choir, for whom it was their final cathedral visit with the choir. The anthem was Henry Ley’s setting of the Easter text 'The strife is o’er'.
The Chapel Choir enjoyed the acoustic at Wells and the opportunity to be accompanied with the organ. We were fortunate enough to have several parents, grandparents and other supporters in the congregation who were also extremely complimentary about the singing of the Chapel Choir.
My congratulations and thanks go to all those involved, but particular thanks and recognition go to Amelia, Gabriel, Georgie, Lily, Olivia and Phoebe for their commitment to the Chapel Choir over the years.
