A record numbers of stalls, a record numbers of shoppers and a record amount of money has been raised for charity at this year’s Friends of King’s Christmas Fair.
A huge thank you to all who supported this year’s Friends of King’s Christmas Fair. With sixty stalls under one roof, there was something for everyone - from books to bread, candles to cakes and jewellery to jumpers. The Christmas theme was enhanced by carols sung by both the School Choir and Bruton Choral Society, as well as the mulled wine which flowed freely. The raffle hampers, provided by each of the houses, proved a huge success and raised over £1,000. Thank you to all parents, staff and pupils who so generously contributed to these wonderful prizes. Thank you too to the Friends of King’s Committee and the boys of Blackford House who worked tirelessly throughout the afternoon and without whom this event would simply not happen. The Christmas Fair is very much the main fund-raising event of the year for the Friends of King’s; this year the total raised from advertising in the fair brochure, the stallholder fees, entrance donations, sales of refreshments and raffle tickets has exceeded all previous years and our expectations. Once final costs have been taken into account, the total raised will be in excess of £4,500! This will be split between Papyrus, Somerset & Dorset Animal Rescue and the Friends of King’s. However, it is not just about raising money - it was wonderful to see so many parents, (past, present and future), staff, Old Brutonians and members of Bruton Town and further afield joining us for this curtain-raiser to the Christmas period. Thank you to all, for your support.
