The 6th Form artists and art historians travelled to London on Thursday this week to visit the Tate Modern.
The U6th Form had planned and prepared their visits to a range of venues in order to enhance their written studies and the practical work which flows from them. The L6th Form had a structured introduction to the Tate Modern along with a series of lectures by the Head of Art in front of key pieces of work relating to the formal element of colour. Such experiences are incredibly valuable and really help to extend and enrich the A Level curriculum. The pupils really enjoyed listening to the expertise and explanations provided. Using questions and answers, the pupils were encouraged to share observations about the work they had viewed. Thereafter more independent access to the many gallery spaces allowed them to complete their remaining sketches and observations. An excellent trip for all who attended!
