4th Form CCF cadets passed their Weapon Handling Test at Straight Point Range...

King’s Bruton 4th Form CCF cadets journeyed to Straight Point Range Complex for their first shoot. The day saw the cadets shoot on the 25m Barrack Range and on the indoor DCCT. Cadets had trained hard over the past few weeks to pass their Weapon Handling Test on the Cadet GP Rifle, and to learn key marksmanship principles. The weather was kind to the cadets, and all enjoyed their first 25m Barrack Range day. Grouping Shots, followed by Zeroing Shots and then three Competition Shots saw all cadets pass the required standard with some achieving First Class and one cadet gaining Marksman.

An excellent day that has prepared the cadets for their 2-day Exercise at Yoxter Ranges next term.

On Friday 17th May, 13 of King’s CCF cadets headed to the Straight Point 25m Firing Range Complex at Sandy Bay to try their hand at live firing practice. This was an excellent opportunity for the cadets to get out of school and engage in CCF activities in an external environment in the midst of a stressful exam season. We headed off from school at around 8.30am via minibus to the professional military firing range. All pupils showed excellent skill and attention in learning and practicing to improve their shot as we used both live rounds in the cadet GP rifles and a computerised styled simulator in the DCCT. It was great to see cadets building their confidence on the range and some excellent shooting.
