A wonderful 1^st Teams' Sports Dinner...

It was wonderful to host our annual 1^st Teams’ Sports Dinner, which is an opportunity for the Sports Department to both recognise and celebrate the commitment, dedication and achievement of our King’s Bruton 1^st Teams. The Department thoroughly enjoyed serving the pupils their three-course meal, and it was lovely to see how much they enjoyed their evening, particularly as sport is such a big part of their lives at King’s. Each of the Captains spoke clearly, confidently, and proudly as they shared their thoughts on the season gone, or the season to come in the case of the Summer sports. Each table also completed a quiz (included in this report!) where they tried to match the sporting event/achievement to the correct member of staff, which proved quite difficult, however an impressive 15/26 was the winning score. The evening culminated with the awarding of the Barber Challenge Sport Trophy to our highest performing 1^st Team. This year saw a new name on the trophy, as the award was presented to the 1^st XI cricket team for their very impressive season last year. A huge thanks must go to the whole Sports Department, as well as the Catering Team and in particular our Events Manager, Penny Bird, for all her hard work in helping to prepare and run the event.
