King's Bruton pupil numbers are at an all time high...
With pupil numbers at King’s at an all-time high, it is wonderful to welcome so many new pupils at the start of the Christmas Term. In total, over 100 new pupils have joined King’s this term; 69 of whom are joining the 3rd Form and nearly 20 into the Sixth Form, with the remainder joining in 4th & 5th Forms. Our 3rd Form pupils come from as many as 16 different schools, whilst our new Sixth Formers come from six different countries, giving us a wonderful multi-cultural feel that is so important to a school such as ours.
The slightly amended First Day of Term programme for the new pupils worked well. The 3rd Form and their parents arrived shortly after lunch and were met in their Houses by their Housemaster/mistress, Matrons, and senior pupils and, after a short address to parents and pupils from the Headmaster in the Memorial Hall, the pupils headed off for an afternoon of sport, activities and time spent getting to know each other in the Junior Common Room (JCR). After a quick tour of the School and supper in the Dining Room, they were soon feeling settled and very much part of the School.
A grateful parent wrote: “I'm not sure any of us could have hoped for a better start. We all loved the first day and feel very bonded already. Thank you to all of you for making us feel so welcome”.
It was a busy week for all the new pupils, as they learnt to navigate the campus, meet new teachers, and make new friends. They will get to grips with their timetables, choose their activities for the term, and have the opportunity to represent the School for the first time in fixtures on Saturdays.
The calibre of this year’s 3rd Form is exciting, with 31 of them having been awarded scholarships or exhibitions. The opportunities on offer for all are as exceptional as they are varied, and I hope that all our new joiners will make the most of what is on offer.
Exciting times at King’s!
