A roundup of the weekend's sport...
Rugby U18s South West 7s Tournament
King’s Bruton travelled to Taunton School to play in the U18s Southwest Tournament. King’s started off well against a very strong Bishop’s Wordsworth School and lost 26-5. We then played Canford School and competed well for 12 minutes, with Isaac scoring a lovely 40 metre try to finish in the corner. Unfortunately, we couldn’t quite hold on and Canford won 12 -19. We then played Ysgol Gyfun Glantaf in our last game of the pool, and the boys yet again showed some real heart and desire, but sadly, could not quite get the win against the overall winners of the competition. Final score 28 -14.
Although we lost all of our games in the pool, we put some real strong performances in, and we were confident that we were going to do well in the shield. We played Queen’s College, who had looked good all day in the semi-finals of the shield. Some superb defensive sets allowed us to regain possession and we got our first win of the day. Final score 17-7. We then faced Colston’s School in the Final and played some fantastic attacking rugby, however, we just couldn’t keep possession for long enough in the second half and lost 21-14.
Well done to everyone who played in a very competitive competition. Throughout the day, Isaac scored 5 tries and Murray, Freddie and Felix all scored 1.
