Sport Roundup - Week 8...
Fuelling for Performance Workshop
On Friday afternoon, it was fantastic to welcome Marnie from Chartwells to deliver a workshop on Fuelling for Performance for our pupils on the Athlete Development Programme. The session, which focused on hydration and how to fuel yourself effectively before performance, was an interactive and engaging workshop which our sports performers can use when preparing for their sport. The pupils had the opportunity to create their own isotonic sports drinks and consider what should be consumed to optimise performance. A huge thank you to Marnie on behalf of all of the pupils, and to the pupils themselves for their engagement, enthusiasm and making the most of the talk.
Hockey
The 1st XI had a very busy week as they faced all three schools from Taunton, two of which were in the cup and in the block fixture with Queen’s College on Saturday. On Tuesday, the team played well as they were knocked out in the last 16 of the ISHC by a very good Taunton School side, but they then produced arguably their best performance of the season as they defeated King’s College 2-0 on penalty strokes to progress to the last 16 of the Tier 3 National Cup.
There were also some excellent performances across the board in the block fixture versus Queen’s College on Saturday and the results were as follows:
1st XI - Drew 2-2: Player of Match - Malte
2nd XI - Won 3-0: Player of Match - Jon
U15A - Won 7-0: Player of Match - Benji
U14A - Lost 1-0: Player of Match - Lenny
U14B - Won 2-0: Player of Match - Will
The teams now look forward to two full blocks versus Wellington and Dauntsey’s respectively in the final two weekends of term.
