Sports Roundup Christmas Term...
It has been one of our most successful terms of sport at King's Bruton, not only because of the current circumstances we find ourselves operating under, but from both a performance and participation point of view. We have seen our 1st XV Rugby and 1st XI Hockey teams enjoy extremely successful seasons, whilst we have also had huge numbers of pupils representing the school and making the most of the opportunities offered to them. We have also seen the first football matches being played for a number of years, whilst our Golf Development Programme has got off to a good start and our badminton players have enjoyed putting their skills to the test in inter-school matches. Our riders go from strength to strength and there were some outstanding performances from our runners in the Yeovil Area Cross-Country event held at King's.
A special mention must go to the U18 girls indoor team who agonisingly lost 2-1 in the final of the Regional Tournament to miss out on a place in the National Finals. In years gone by this performance would have seen them qualify, however due to a restructuring by England Hockey, they missed out. Nonetheless, victories versus Blundell’s, Clifton College, Cheltenham College and Millfield in the semi final is a fantastic achievement.
The rugby club has also enjoyed a great season with all of our teams now playing the same brand of exciting rugby under the expert guidance of Mr Hawley. None of the above would be possible without the endless commitment, enthusiasm and expertise shown by members of staff and I am extremely appreciative for all they give to the games programme at King's. Equally, the pupils are consistently a credit to the school in terms of the way they play and the attitude and behaviour they display.
Finally, it has been wonderful to see so many parents and supporters on the sidelines, and I am hugely grateful for all of the support. I am very much looking forward to another successful term of sport after Christmas and hope that the whole King's community has a restful and relaxing holiday.

Equestrian
The riders took a small team to KSEC for the County Show jumping. They had some fantastic results, finishing 2nd in the team in the 90 (Anouska, Lilah and Freya) with Anouska finishing 2nd as an individual. In the 1m they were joined by Emily and finished a very impressive 1st (Anouska), 2nd (Emily only 0.01 seconds behind!) and Lilah 4th. Clearly that was unbeatable for the team and they were crowned county champions and have qualified for Hickstead in the summer.
