How would you define love? That was the question we considered during our Harvest Chapel Service.

The apostle John’s first letter in the Bible gives us an excellent definition of love. It’s more than a feeling of just really liking something or someone. John reminds us that love is an action - it involves doing something. More than that, he shows us that it’s a costly action - if we love something or someone we’ll be prepared to sacrifice our time/energy/resources for it/them. Love being a costly action is supremely shown to us through Jesus Christ’s costly loving action, of salvation at the cross.

It’s been wonderful to see the whole school community, staff and pupils seeking to love our wider community through the foodbank donations this year. An incredible amount of varied foods have been donated to the Bruton Larder Foodbank. It’s wonderful for us to be able to show such love to those in greatest need on our doorstep. The generosity of the staff and pupils has blown me away. We were delighted to hear from Bruton Town Council’s Community Development Officer that, “the donations will mean the Brue Larder goes into the end of the year well stocked.”
