The 3rd Form had an afternoon of outdoors and adventure at Mill on the Brue...
Wet with a torrent of Somerset rain, but not undeterred, the new 3rd Form set off on foot to our neighbouring outdoor adventure centre at Mill on the Brue. We soon forgot about our wet clothes as we headed to the river. The aim was to cross with no more than two ropes and a wooden A-frame. Some of our pupils gave a running jump and flung themselves across with momentum. Others were more careful and they ended up swinging with their lower halves getting a good dip in the river.
On to the high ropes, and pupils had a wonderful time blindfolded whilst climbing 30 foot before throwing themselves off the post. Others, after the climb, performed leaning in and out exercises. It was only the holding of each other’s hands that prevented them from falling.
Doughnuts and fizz ensured everyone was well fed after a fun start to the year at King’s.

It was the 1st Sunday of the Term and the vast majority of the 3rd Formers took a trip to the Mill on the Brue. Once divided into teams the groups spent the afternoon attempting a number of outdoor activities: they had to traverse a river using ropes and work as a team to stay as dry as possible. They climbed up large wooden poles to then throw themselves onto a swinging ball. Others attempted to try to stand on a small platform high in the air, simple for one - less so for four at the same time. We started with a great deal of rain and finished with more rain but also a good deal of happiness. The children had a great time and really enjoyed the activities on offer.
