Swimming
On Thursday 16th May, the King’s swimmers conclusively won their match against Downside. Jasper T’s victory in his 50m Freestyle began the team’s winning streak. This was followed up by individual wins from Sophie T in the 50m Freestyle, Cat R, Tom R and Millie T-C in the 50m Breaststroke, Anya E in the 50m Backstroke, 25m Butterfly and 100m Individual Medley, Harry F in the 25m Butterfly and Archie M in the 100m Individual Medley. All the Relay performances were outstanding with excellent takeovers helping the teams extend their lead against a strong Downside team. There were too many fantastic performances to mention them all, but congratulations must go to the entire swim squad. Swimmers of this match were Millie T-C and Jasper T.
On Saturday 18th May the Girls’ Swimming Team travelled to Sherborne to compete against Canford, Leweston and the hosts Sherborne. There were some exceptional swims, including Cat R, Katie R and Amelia D in both the Individual Medley and Butterfly, Olivia H in the Backstroke, Breaststroke and Freestyle, Hayley C in the 50m Butterfly, and Millie T-C’s hard fought second place in the 50m Freestyle. Overall the Junior Girls came fourth by a small margin, and we were extremely proud of the Senior Girls who finished a very respectable third overall. Swimmers of this match were: Senior girls – Millie T-C; and Junior girls – Olivia H.
Cricket v Queen’s Taunton
Junior B’s
Junior B’s pulled of an astonishing 10 wicket victory on Abbey. Queen’s 54 all out with wickets shred between Oscar P, Bertie H and Isaac B. King’s then knocked off the runs without losing a wicket. Oscar P 34* and Archie M-S 10*. Man of the Match was Oscar P.
Junior CX1
The Junior CX1 played Queens’ Taunton’s B X1 and ran them close. King’s made 104 with top scorer captain Ed W with 24. King’s hustled in the field and bowled straight, taking 4 wickets and making Queen’s wait until the 17th over before the winning runs were scored. Felix S was Man of the Match with a stunning, promising batting and decent bowling.

Saturday 18th May was the big prestigious eleven schools meet at Millfield. Kings fielded 5 teams, Junior Girls, Senior Girls, U16 Boys, U17 Boys and U20 Boys. Competing against Millfield, St Bendict's Ealing, King's Taunton, Taunton, Sherborne, Wellington, Kingswood, Blundell's and Queen's College.
Matt S started the afternoon in fine form, hurdling brilliantly and achieving a well deserved 2nd. Rowan O increased his personal best jumping 1.76cm in the high jump and our two captains Rian and Esther led by example, with both of them achieving seasons best performances in their events. Max M competed against a GB Decathlete who jumped 2.05 in the high jump and Sean L and Seamus C were inspired by competing along side the British Javelin Champion. Harriet T ran brilliantly over the 200m and 400m and again Ottie G ran an incredible 800m. Millie V-C threw a seasons best in the discus and along side Lily C, secured valuable team points in the shot.
Davina E, Maya W and Georgina W all had a busy afternoon, gaining competition experience. The afternoon finished with the King’s relay teams running the 4 x 100m to gain valuable team points with some interesting characters making up the team, but true King’s team spirit showed and we finished the afternoon getting the baton around safely.
