King’s Bruton welcomed over 180 runners to the annual Marden Trophy Cross-Country Competition on Thursday.
The beautiful Somerset country course was resplendent in sunshine and the cool conditions ideal for what made for a wonderful afternoon of running. King’s enjoyed a very successful afternoon of competition with the Inter-Boys winning the Marden Cup for only the 2nd time since 1981. Elsewhere, the Senior Girls and Inter Girls finished 3rd and 2nd respectively. 3rd Form pupil Anya won the individual Inter Girls’ race with a well-judged and determined performance. Full On Sport provided their state of the art chip-timing system ensuring that results were generated accurately and with impressive speed.
Thanks go to Mr and Mrs Wirth for the use of their land and to Adie and the Grounds Team for the excellent condition of the course. We are also grateful to the many King’s pupils and staff who marshalled the course with such enthusiasm and diligence. Finally, thanks also to Full On Sport for their excellent service. A full break-down of all results can be found on the Full On Sport website here. An album of photos from the afternoon can be seen below.
