Four King’s athletes became county champions in a rain sodden Somerset Schools Championships at Millfield on Saturday, writes Pip Atkinson-Kennedy.
With 32 of the Kings athletes competing we secured an impressive 13 podium places, including the four champions: Matt Trickey in both Shot and Discus, Ellen Barber in High Jump, Ed McCabe in Long Jump and Milo Best at 300 metres. At one stage the athletes should have been swimming as all the events were waterlogged and the Rev got particularly wet on the Discus. Other medallists were:
2nd:
- Matthew Scott - JB 80m hurdles
- Jordan Adams SB HJ
3rd:
- Peter Knospe- SB 400m
- Henry Oliver- IB long jump
- Megan Jones- IG javelin
- Rian Upton - JB discus
- Oliver White- IB 100m hurdles
- Ben Best - IB 800m
- Poppy Boyden IG 1500m
Well done to everyone and we will keep our fingers crossed about who is selected to represent Somerset next Saturday at the South West championships.
