Our Artist in Residence is preparing for his latest exhibition...
In anticipation of the Summer term Artist-in-Residence, George Cole, in association with Hauser & Wirth, is preparing for his latest exhibition ‘Lost Energy,’ inspiring creativity through collaboration with King’s pupils. Exploring the themes of energy and what it looks like, George aims to transform the gallery into a living space to open and encourage new perspectives.
So, what does energy look like?
George has run a series of workshops exploring the theme of energy with experimental drawing and sculptural activities. Working with multiple groups, pupils are presented with the question and given opportunities to play, explore, and record what energy looks like to form their creative response.
The exhibition is an invitation to experience the results of this wholly collaborative process – step inside the living space to engage with kinetic sculptures, immerse yourself in a wave-inspired installation of combined energy forms, and discover different aspects of the narrative through moving image.
Following this exhibition, George will reconnect with the natural environment by returning the various forms of energy to their source to complete the cycle. Throughout, the aim has been to forge links to culture and the natural world, open a new dialogue and connect communities inside, outside, near and far.
