It has been a busy and successful few weeks for the King’s Bruton indoor hockey teams with both the U16 & U18 Boys and Girls in action. For the first time in the School’s history, all four teams qualified for the West Regional Finals, having qualified through from what is a tough County Round. The U16 Girls, as well as the U16 & U18 Boys finished as county runners up whilst the U18 Girls qualified by winning the Somerset tournament.
Whilst the U16 Boys are yet to play their Regional Finals, this coming Sunday, the other King’s teams did themselves proud. The U16 girls played fantastically well to qualify for the semi finals defeating South Dartmoor and Clifton College and drawing with Dean Close & Bryanston. They eventually lost to tournament winners Millfield in the semi final. The U18 Boys were very unlucky to miss out on a semi final place as they did so to Canford despite having drawn with them, beaten Torquay Grammar and KES Bath and narrowly lost to tournament finalists Dean Close. Finally the U18 Girls qualified themselves to another indoor National Finals with a great performance. They comfortably won their group winning all of their matches versus Taunton School, Cheltenham College, KES Bath and Bryanston before defeating Dean Close 4-1 in the semi-final. Despite a loss versus Millfield in the final, qualification to the Nationals was already assured.
I am immensely proud of all of our teams and the manner in which they have played and represented the school. It is fantastic to see them all playing such structured and exciting indoor hockey.
