Dave Watts (Old Brutonian & professional photographer) visited King’s to offer a masterclass in portrait photography to the 4th Form artists.
This masterclass is in advance of a GCSE unit of work due to start soon. Dave focused on the dynamics of light and in addition to highlighting the photogenic characteristics of the Head of Art, he got the pupils to work in groups as models, photographers and assistants! Some excellent results were obtained during the workshop as the pupils relaxed into their roles and began to experiment and support each other.
Dave ‘caught the bug’ whilst he was taking A Level Art at King’s and developed his first roll of film. Indeed, Dave describes this as a magical moment. He has his own business davewattsphotography.co.uk and works with wedding photography; corporate commissions; travel photography and freelance. Our thanks to Dave for running such an excellent and engaging masterclass. A tweet containing some photos of the masterclass can be seen below.
