On Sunday 2nd July, the Gold Duke of Edinburgh groups set off for their four day expedition to the Peak District.
The groups planned their routes themselves with the one condition set my Miss Swindall that they should climb Kinder Scout on one of the days. Both groups set themselves tough routes which presented challenging navigation across quite bleak and featureless landscapes. Despite the difficulty of the terrain and days of 20-30km, the groups showed huge determination and perseverance completing each day with smiles on their faces.
These two groups were the most impressive I have ever taken on expedition, showing great teamwork and above all, they were unstinting in their kindness to each other, never failing to look out for one another.
Miss Swindall would like to thank the pupils for never putting a foot wrong and being excellent ambassadors for the School, Mr Beverly for fantastic support and photos/videos, Mr Tickner as the external assessor as well as Mr Daws and Mr Hodder for their support, expertise and hard work during the first week of the school summer holidays. Photos fromn the expedition along with a drone video can be viewed below.
