We are pleased to announce that on Wednesday 22nd February, Gabriel Airey and Henry Smith (Old Brutonians - 2016) went to St James's Palace to collect their Gold Duke of Edinburgh's Awards, presented to them by HRH Prince Philip.
Gabriel and Henry, who left last summer, completed their silver and gold awards whilst in the Sixth Form at King’s. Choosing cycling as their means of transport, they completed memorable expeditions to Exmoor, Dartmoor, Snowdonia, and the coast-to-coast route between St. Bee's and Robin Hood’s Bay.
The boys' commitment to the Duke of Edinburgh's Award goes even further than just this. Now, as qualified assessors, both boys are coming back this year to assess participants on expeditions, as the number of pupils participating in the Duke of Edinburgh's Award at King's goes from strength to strength.
Henry and Gabriel should be commended for their award completions. We look forward to having them involved in years to come, in a way that will enable others to learn from their valuable experiences.
