A fabulous festive day was had by the whole community.
All our staff enjoyed a hot Christmas lunch in the Memorial Hall, and pupils were staggered in the dining room over 2 hours so everyone had an opportunity to relax and eat with their friends. Chartwells Catering was superb as everything was homemade, even down to the gingerbread houses, mince pies and Christmas cake.

How our Catering Team have managed this term...
The Catering Team started the term with the Covid-safe food service regime in the dining room. There were many challenges which we have worked hard to overcome and make each meal as normal as possible under the circumstances. After each bubble had finished, the whole dining room was cleaned and sanitised before the next bubble arrived. Pupils normally help themselves to the food on offer, but under the new rules, the catering staff served the pupils.
Teachers and support staff meals were moved out of the dining hall to the Memorial Hall to ensure everyone kept safe. Over the course of the term, we looked at ways to improve the variety of food on offer to pupils and re-introduced additional choices for them. After careful planning and investment in new service equipment, we managed to safely introduce a help yourself salad bar and a soup counter, by changing the utensils after every bubble. This has been a big hit with the pupils, boosting their morale and bringing back a feeling of normality, whilst keeping safe within the Covid working way.
In the New Year we have lots of Covid-safe food ideas, with vibrant and exciting events and themes to look forward to.
