This term the L6th Form Psychologists embarked on a new topic Bio Psychology.
This topic entails looking at the brain, as well as other parts of the body, that cause behaviour to change. It is one of the most fascinating parts of the course. Within this topic we do lots of different tasks and activities to look at the parts of the brain. We have created brain models with polystyrene heads, sweet nerves, and last week we were able to do a brain dissection, with this we looked at two different brains, a sheep and a cows.
It’s the perfect opportunity to be able to see the different parts of the brain for real and observe what we have been studying. The pupils loved identifying the well known parts such as the cerebrum and the cerebellum, along with the brain stem and the corpus callosum.
Thoughts from L6th Form Psychologists:
James - New House ‘I was fascinated by how separated the two hemispheres were.
Luli - Arion House ‘I was taken aback by the size of the brains and how they were so interconnected.’
If you want to know more about the brain do download the app 3D Brain.
