We had a fantastic time celebrating the European Day of Languages on Thursday 26th September.
We started off with Idioms and Tongue Twisters in Spanish. We then carried on with a carousel of activities which included Italian Bingo, French Guess Who and German Twister with the 4th Form. Then, after morning break we had a quiz on different cultures with the 5th Form and we learnt a few useful words in Dutch, Swedish, Italian, Russian and Czech.
Cooking with the U6th Form developed our culinary skills: we made a vegetarian quiche in French and an Alfajores de Maicena in Spanish. The food was delicious, and it was fun to see the pupils giving it their all. We finished off the day with general knowledge questions about our European counterparts.
It was a very successful day and it was such a pleasure to show the pupils the importance of celebrating different languages and different cultures in our society of nowadays. We are extremely lucky at King’s to be able to embrace different cultures.
