King’s Bruton is celebrating excellent GCSE results, a week after the School’s impressive A-Level results.
In a Year 11 of 60 students, 17 students achieved seven A*-A grades or better, with Holly White gaining 11A*1A, Barney Latham 9A*2A, Kitty Mant 9A*2A and Ella Corlett 9A*1A. With 38.8% of all grades A*-A, 86.4% were awarded A*-C. King’s exceptional Music Department achieved 100% A*-A with the Biology, Latin, Religious Studies and Spanish Departments all achieving over 60% A*-A grades. In addition all Year 9 Level 1 projects were awarded A*-B grades.
Ian Wilmshurst, the Headmaster, was very pleased with the GCSE results. “This is another strong set of examination results and I am delighted that the hard work of our students and the outstanding support given by our teachers have been rewarded. These results round off an exceptional year at King’s. Students have now been successful in external examinations, we have experienced remarkable sporting achievement with the Under 16 hockey girls 3rd in England and the rugby 1st XV unbeaten, our Chamber Choir won through to the Finals of the BBC National Youth Choir competition while our Duke of Edinburgh and CCF programmes are flourishing. We have started a major classroom refurbishment programme, we have extended our girls’ boarding accommodation to cope with increased demand and we will welcome record number of pupils back to King’s in September. I am confident that the new 6th Form will continue this success next academic year.”
