This summer saw King’s pupils achieve outstanding A Level, GCSE, BTEC and EPQ grades...

After many years of hard work, it was fantastic to see pupils across the 5th and 6th Form achieve such success, allowing those at the very top of the School to pursue their various exciting and diverse Higher Education options.

At GCSE, nearly 43% of grades awarded a 9-7(A*/A) grade, with 92% of grades awarded a grade 9-4 (A*-C). This was a very impressive set of results and has allowed pupils to progress into the 6th Form in a very strong position. Whilst pupils achieved fantastic results across many subjects, we welcomed very strong results in RS, Biology and Physics where over 70% of grades awarded were 9-7 (A*/A), in Geography 60% of grades awarded were 9-7 (A*-A), and in Art, Chemistry, Latin, History and PE where over half the grades awarded were grades 9-7 (A*-A). 13 pupils achieved at least 8 grades 9-7, with Erica W achieving an incredible 11 top grade 9’s.

The A Level, BTEC and EPQ results were very impressive, with 43% of grades awarded being at the A*/A or equivalent level, and 65% of grades A*-B. Many pupils achieved considerable success at A Level, with 5 pupils gaining straight A*/A grades. The BTEC grades were equally impressive, with over 75% of grades awarded Distinction*/ Distinction (A*/A grades). It was brilliant to see a fantastic set of EPQ projects receive the grades they thoroughly deserved, with 54% of pupils achieving A*/ A grades and 100% A*-C. The ability for pupils to study A Levels, BTECs or a combination of both proved to be very successful, with nearly all pupils able to embark on their chosen Higher Education pathway.

The 2024 A Level, GCSE, BTEC and EPQ results showed a return to pre-pandemic levels, with King’s pupils achieving an incredibly strong set of results. I particularly enjoyed seeing pupils across a range of abilities achieve the grades that they both wanted and deserved. Whilst it is only right we highlight those pupils who have achieved the very top grades, I am delighted for all pupils who achieved grades that reflect the hard work they put into their subjects. Once again, the GCSE curriculum has provided strong foundations for the 6th Form, whilst the exciting curriculum in the 6th Form that allows for BTECs and A Levels to be taken together has supported pupils incredibly well.

It has been fantastic to see pupils build on their success at GCSE and start the 6th Form in such an impressive manner, whilst also seeing last year’s U6th Form embark on an exciting and diverse set of Higher Education options. I wish to congratulate all pupils who achieved great results this summer, and my thanks to all colleagues for the support that they provided.
