The girls enjoyed an evening of Chess and Chocolate...
On Thursday 23rd November, we held a “Chess and Chocolate” event, kindly hosted by Priory House. Mr Owens (Chess) and Mrs Kingstone (Chocolate) transformed the Common Room - ten boards were in action as players battled it out whilst munching on some chocolate! There were some female teachers (Ms Checketts, Miss Russell, Mrs Simper and Mrs Kingstone) taking part as well as girls from Arion, Priory and Wellesley. From novices to experienced players - it was a real delight to watch girls share tactics with each other. At the end of another busy school week, it made a great change to engage in something a little more cerebral: thoughts on homework and deadlines were temporarily parked. Next week will see the Inter-House Chess Competition: Girls’ Section, where some of the same players will confront each other in a more formal setting.
