Last weekend, twenty seven 5th Form pupils undertook their 24 hour Silver DofE training.
In spite of dreadful weather leading up to, and indeed following the week-end, we were blessed with dry and glorious weather throughout, making for both a happy and highly productive trip. Saturday evening saw the pupils set up camp on Farr Field, cook a good meal before bed and put the School trangias through some intense high temperature testing!
After a good night of sleep under clear, dry skies, the pupils set off on their 18km walk around the local area, taking in views including King Alfred’s Tower and Glastonury Tor. Navigation was something of a mixed bag, but importantly by the end of the day, all had learnt and developed their skills.
Thanks to Miss Flavell, Mr Thompson, Mr Cupit, Dr Kewell, Mr Charlton, Mr Stainton and Mr Barrow, all of whom made the trip so enjoyable and successful.
