A Great Start to the New Term in The Queen Elizabeth Music School

Music Life at King's

It has been a busy start to the Christmas Term in The Queen Elizabeth Music School with 91 timetabled individual lessons delivered since the start of term on Wednesday.

It has been wonderful to hear clarinet, drum kit, French horn, guitar (electric and acoustic), oboe, trumpet, saxophone, tenor horn, singing, violin and viola lessons taking place so far in the Department, with bassoon, flute, piano, trombone and tuba lessons set to resume next week.

King’s seem unique in getting individual music lessons up and running in the first week of the Christmas Term with many schools waiting until the second or even third week of term. I am very grateful to our team of peripatetic staff for adapting to teaching in School with appropriate Covid-safe protective measures, and well done to the pupils for hitting the ground running at the start of a very different term. Music Enrichment on Friday afternoon presented new challenges with 27 pupils in the 4th, 5th and Sixth Form all requiring rehearsal space around the Department - we were full to bursting with lots of music!

Next week promises to be just as exciting as we start our revised programme of rehearsals in The Queen Elizabeth Music School.
