Major General Colin McClean MBE inspected King’s School Bruton CCF on Friday 22nd March.
The Contingent and Military Band paraded on Prefects’ Lawn and were inspected by the Major General.
During the afternoon, the Major General was able to see the CCF cadets involved in a variety of activities that saw the 4th Form Army recruits patrolling with paintball markers and practicing their fieldcraft skills. The 5th Form Advanced Infantry undertook the “500” Platoon Attack on Farr Field. The RN sections were able to show their skills with raft building, first aid skills in a boating accident, construction of a hoist and navigational skills with map and compass.
The Biennial Inspection came to a close with the traditional gun run race between the Army and RN sections. A titanic race saw the Army section retain the trophy by the smallest of margins.
The Major General completed his inspection of the CCF by watching the Military Band perform Beating Retreat in Old House Yard.
The Inspection was a great success and the CCF can be proud of their efforts.
