On Tuesday 14th March the L6th Form Business Studies and Economics pupils visited the home of the BMW Mini in Cowley, Oxford.
The pupils were split into two groups and given their own specialist guide. They were all linked up by microphone, so could hear quite clearly the detailed analysis of every aspect of the plant from production to finance and from marketing to human resources. The tour encompassed the body shop where the pupils saw the ‘ballet’ of nearly two thousand individual production robots putting together the chassis for Minis and hardly any human beings at all. We then went onto the main assembly line where we saw the Mini taking shape; from the installation of the engine through to the final quality checks. The day was a great academically enriching outing for our budding future CEOs!
