An exciting weekend of cricket and tennis matches...
It was brilliant to get the Summer term of sport underway in sunny conditions on Saturday afternoon. A big thank you must go to the grounds team for their tireless work in getting pitches ready, despite the challenges they have faced with the weather.
The boys’ tennis teams started the season with a tough fixture with King’s Taunton. The 1st VI narrowly lost out 5-4 in a very exciting fixture, with the whole team playing consistent and strategic tennis, whilst the 2nd VI secured an impressive 6-3 victory with all three pairs contributing two wins apiece.
It was an excellent start for our cricket teams as there were four victories from four matches versus Monkton Combe. The 1st XI won by 10 wickets as Ethan scored 82 runs not out on his very impressive 1st XI debut. The Junior A team won by 97 runs as Milo achieved an outstanding century with the bat. The Junior B team won by 77 runs as Harry scored 52 not out and Rupert bowled a very impressive spell which included 17 dot balls. Finally, the 1st XI girls won by 10 Wickets as a good team performance saw Georgia and Lucy achieve the runs required with ease. They now look forward to their National Cup fixture versus KES Bath on Thursday.
