An excellent afternoon at the Inter-House Golf Competition...
On Thursday, 12 pupils took part in the Inter-House Golf Competition. The sun was shining and Wheathill Golf Club was the perfect setting for what proved to be an excellent afternoon of golf. The competition took the form of four groups of three playing stroke-play with Stableford scoring, with one pupil from each boys’ and girls’ Houses making up each group. Many of the girls had never played before, and not only represented their Houses incredibly well, but also hit some excellent shots along the way, in what is a notoriously challenging sport for beginners.
The boys' competition was an incredibly tight result, with many of the School’s best golfers on the Golf Development Programme battling it out. In the end, Lyon House came out with a commanding victory with 31 points, and Blackford a close second with 29. New House put in a valiant effort, but were well-beaten on the day with 23 points. The girls' competition was similarly close, with Arion pipping Wellesley at the post with 22 and 21 points respectively. Priory put in an excellent effort, finishing with 18 points. Well done to all of the pupils involved, and congratulations to the winning Houses. My thanks also go to Jill Byrne and Wheathill Golf Club for their hospitality.
