L6th Form Facilitated 3rd Form eSafety Workshops...

As we all become increasingly reliant on technology and the internet, so eSafety is becoming an increasingly important issue. How can we ensure that we are all safe online?

Last half term, a group of L6th pupils were selected by Houseparents for Enquiry Facilitation training. They attended sessions introducing them to some of the core principles of the Socratic Method and Bloom’s Taxonomy. They also received guidance on how to run inclusive, productive enquiries for small groups through the use of open questions.

On 14th June, the 3rd Form gathered in the beautifully air-conditioned Music School to receive a year group workshop on eSafety. Mrs Simper placed them in small inter-house groups and each group was then paired with a L6th Form facilitator, before being sent to different locations around to conduct their eSafety enquiries. Afterwards, everyone came together and the feedback from each of the group enquiries was then fed back to the 3rd Form year group by the facilitators. The atmosphere was relaxed yet focused throughout. Ultimately, it was fascinating to see some common threads come through in the facilitators’ feedback, but also a broad range of ideas and issues were touched upon.

The 3rd Form completed a feedback survey and many said how much they appreciated being offered a space to explore these issues without direct teacher supervision. We were particularly proud of our L6th facilitators who showed maturity and sensitivity in supporting the 3rd Form pupils and helping them to approach this complex topic.

A huge thank you to Mr Gordon for training the Facilitators. This was a fantastic opportunity for them to demonstrate their skills of leadership and they gained a lot of insight into how the 3rd Form view the internet.
