This is now the opportunity for those who undertook their Duke of Edinburgh Silver Awards last academic year to sign off and complete their awards.
These boys, the first to do so, must be commended not only for their outstanding performance on expeditions but also for showing impressive initiative to finish the other elements of their award; voluntary, physical and skill.
While Josh, Tom and Theo undertook their summer qualifying expedition on Exmoor on foot, Adam and Sam opted instead for cycling. They successfully navigated their way around the Brecon Beacons and then back across the Severn Bridge on route for Bruton.
All showed outstanding qualities in relation to teamwork, leadership, camp craft and navigation, and for their efforts now have a Silver Duke of Edinburgh certificate on their CV.
We hope that many others will learn from their terrific example and follow in their footsteps - no pun intended!
