This is a subject lots of us shy away from, but Lily Galbraith-Helps was determined to bring a new and alternative perspective on women’s health and in turn, helping the environment.
She encouraged the girls to think about their monthly cycles as seasons of the year and in this way, accepting that for some days, women are not going to feel like being at the centre of the action. Lily mentioned that various things disrupted hormones such as acidic food and chemical products in our homes and in various cosmetics. Stress was also a contributing factor. Lily also encouraged the girls to consider the environmental impact of the products they use. She wanted to encourage the girls to be more open about their menstrual cycles so they were more able to support each other.
Altogether, Lily offered a thought provoking talk and encouraged a conversation that lasted for days.
