Finn, a L6^th Form pupil who went on the February Half Term Holiday History Tour to Berlin reviews the six days spent by 46 pupils and five staff in Germany’s capital city.

'It was very interesting to spend just under a week in Berlin, as it is a place that is relevant to the history that all pupils in the 5^th Form, L6^th Form & U6^th Form study. To actually see the places that have been studied and spoken of so many times during history lessons was both fascinating and informative. Guided tours of monuments such as the world-famous Holocaust Memorial and the Berlin Wall Memorial, and places like Sachsenhausen and Hohenschönhausen Prison (a former Stasi prison) brought the history to life, broadening our understanding. Even as someone who used to live in Berlin and still visits it often, many of the places we visited on the tour were new to me, so discovering different parts of the city and its rich history was a real bonus. Alongside, all the historical sites we visited, it was brilliant to be able to have plenty of free time to socialise with friends and explore the city in the evenings. Overall, the History Tour was a very positive experience, in regards to both history and fun, and is something I would definitely repeat and recommend to all pupils studying History at GCSE or A Level.
