A busy week for King’s Cricket which saw both Cup and Friendly fixtures take place...

On Thursday, the Girls’ 1^st XI narrowly lost out to KES Bath in Round 1 of the U18 National School Cup. King’s posted 91 for 3 off their allocated overs with KES Bath reaching the total with just two balls to spare! Georgia and Lucy both contributing well with the bat before Lucy took two wickets in as many balls in KES Baths response.

Saturday saw all teams in action against Exeter School and Sherborne Girls School.

Due to the incoming weather, the 1^st XI fixture was reduced to a T20. Exeter School won the toss and elected to field. The 1^st XI Boys posted 145 for 3 off 20 overs with a strong showing from the top order, Ethan (43 runs), Ronnie (40 not out) and Ben (38 runs) all contributing with the bat. In response, Exeter managed to find their rhythm early, however, some excellent middle over bowling from Ronnie, Oliver and George would lead to a tense final two overs. Exeter School requiring three off the last over with one wicket remaining. Oliver managed to restrict Exeter well and a dot ball off the final ball of the game would lead to a tie. Oliver finishing with figures of 4 overs, 2 wickets for 13 runs!

The 2^nd XI restricted Exeter School to 126 in their 20 overs before King’s fell just short of the total in response reaching 98 for 9 off their allocated overs. Daniel awarded Man of the Match for his 4 overs, 3 wickets for just 7 runs!

The Junior U15As posted 167 for 1 off their 25 overs with fine half centuries from Rafe and Nathan. Milo was in the runs again following his century last week with a quick fire 44. Unfortunately, the game was unable to be concluded due to rain.

The Junior U15Bs lost out to Exeter School in the final over. King’s posted 113 for 6 with Exeter reaching 114 in the last over. Gabriel named Man of the Match for his 20 not out.

A really exciting weekend for Girls’ Cricket at King’s with three teams in action against Sherborne Girls’ School.

The Girls’ 1^st XI posted a very competitive 141 for 4 off their 20 overs with captain Georgia making a well worked 62. Wickets fell at regular intervals as King’s managed to restrict Sherborne and win by 23 runs!

The Junior U15A Girls chased down Sherborne’s 101 for 5 comfortable with Minnie (24 not out) and Lucy (22 not out) reaching the total with five overs to spare, King’s winning by 9 wickets.

King’s U15/17 Girls managed to restrict Sherborne to 120 off their 20 overs before falling just 9 runs short in response. Player of the Match was awarded to Isla for a strong bowling and fielding display.

The Boys’ 1^st XI now look forward to their showcase fixture against the MCC on Tuesday before a block fixture for both Boys and Girls teams against Blundells School on Saturday.
