Reflections of the Summer term...

I am writing this summary of the term at my desk as we prepare for the final act of this term, with the U6^th Form Leavers’ Service and Prizegiving about to take place in Old House Yard.

We can all focus on the difficulties and challenges that we have faced over the past months, and we must never forget this pandemic has caused such misery, but it is with a sense of optimism that King’s Bruton finishes this term on such a positive note.

There has been so much to celebrate this term both in and out of the classroom. Our U6^th Form leavers have had a wonderful send-off and we are about to finish their King’s careers together in Old House Yard for their final Service. It will be poignant as we all sing the School song, looking up at the Old House tower as the School flag is lowered for the final time over a boarding house. However, we can all look back at how successfully we have adapted this term to ensure that the King’s education continues to offer amazing opportunities for all our pupils. As a  school, over the past months, we have successfully coped with so much. We have shown resilience as a school community and we should be very proud of what we have achieved.

It was an honour to be appointed the 31^st Headmaster of King’s Bruton, way back in 2009. As we finish this Summer term, I have never been more proud of the girls, boys and staff in our Royal and Ancient Foundation. Floreat Brutonia.
