Over £4000 Raised So Far For World Child Cancer & The Teenage Cancer Trust

Charity Life at King's

It all started last Friday evening with two Priory girls asking their Housemistress if they could do something for World Cancer Day on Saturday 4th February, writes Emily Simper, Housemistress of Priory House.

Fast forward a week and over £4000 has been raised for World Child Cancer, nearly £1000 for Teenage Cancer Trust and more than 400 pupils and staff from King’s and the staff at Hazlegrove have turned off their phones for 24 hours. Once Arion House and Wellesley House had joined Priory House for what has been trending online as #NoPhoneFriday then it wasn’t long before all the Boys’ Houses decided to get involved. The donations from parents, staff and pupils have been truly overwhelming. This fundraising effort has come at a particularly difficult time for the School community as Amy, a pupil in Priory House, is currently battling against cancer. The encouraging messages have shown what a close community we have at King’s and Hazlegrove. We still have many hours to go until 8:30am Saturday morning when we all get our phones back; please do continue to donate by clicking here. Thank you to everyone who has shown such great support.

P.S. Yes - the photo is staged; we're not all always glued to our phones!
