Academic Success Celebration

King’s School, Bruton’s Year 13 leavers have achieved the School’s best A level results since 2012. Already 77% of students have gained a place at their first choice of university with 83% gaining places at their first or second choice of university. 66.2% of grades were A*-B, with a rise in our A* -A percentage despite the national percentage falling.

Amongst the successes were Sam Young (A*AA) who takes up a place to read Architecture at Cambridge University along with a Choral Scholarship. Lucia Pretor-Pinney, James Plummer, Henry  Smith and Bethany Wilson-Brown all achieved straight A grades. Art, History of Art, Music, Philosophy and Ethics, Spanish and Russian achieved 100% A*-B grades. Biology, Economics, History and Maths had more than 70% of students achieving A*-B grades.

The BTEC students also achieved significant success with Distinction*/Distinction grades across all three BTEC subjects. Sophie Sage achieved Distinction*/Distinction in both BTEC Sport and BTEC Hospitality while Harry Woolway achieved Distinction/Distinction in his BTEC Sport.

The Headmaster, Ian Wilmshurst, congratulated the Year 13 students saying, “I am delighted with these A level results which bear testament to all the hard work of the students and the support given by our excellent staff. This rounds off a remarkably successful year at King’s with a series of achievements outside the classroom matched with academic success”.
